Unsolved DBAN hard drive errors

This post is more of a reminder to further look into the errors I had running DBAN this morning. One of the hard drives, the one that appears to be on the controller attached to the motherboard, is spewing errors similar to:

CDB: Write (10) I/O error, /dev/sda

Unhandled error code

Result hostbyte=DID=BAD_TARGET driverbyte=DRIVER_OK

I found an Ubuntu thread on the problem. I noted on boot that the motherboard I’m using has SATA RAID. I also have 2 SATA hard drives plugged in via a Thermaltake BlacX Duet docking station. The thread mentions that one of the problems might be that the RAID controller has conflicts with one of the USB controllers. It seems strange that hardware manufactures would let this happen, but I’ve had lots of strange this weekend. More soon.
