Software

Introduction

Over the years I’ve written a few pretty obscure programs. This is the spot for the collection of those programs. Currently the area is pretty sparse, but I’m going through my collection of software from the past 15 years to dredge some of it up.

Iceutils command line RPG toolsIceUtils v0.8

IceUtils is a suite of Role Playing Game tools for the Linux command line. The tools were designed to augment Iron Crown Enterprises RoleMaster system, but many of the tools could be used for any RPG system. In version 0.8 I began converting some of the tools over to a graphical interface using Tk. IceUtils went through a couple of transitions, from Tcl to C, then back to Tcl (so I could use Tk for the graphical interface). The last released version was 0.8. You can download the file here: [iceutils-0.8.tar.gz]

The tools were designed to be run individually from the command line. My decision to create command line tools was partly influenced by the fact that I did a lot of Internet Relay Chat (IRC) at the time and wanted tools that could be used in IRC (e.g. /exec moneygen) . At least a couple of projects appear to have been partially influenced by these tools, a Java Desktop Character Generator and a project called Wyrmtools. Of course the project wouldn’t be useful without an obligatory screenshot:

This project has been revived after being dormant since 2007. Follow development on the Freshmeat and Blogger pages.

BANG! v1.00B

BANG is a BBS Russian Roulette “door game” I wrote in 1995. It used Synchronet BBS Software’s BAJA programming language and only ran on that BBS software. I released it as Freeware and it got picked up on the famous “Night Owl” collection of BBS software and revised (look for version 2.1 and 2.2 by Robert Nykvist) by a better programmer than me. This is the code as I wrote it: [bang100b]
