Summary:
I host a computer reuse project for The Working Centre, a not-for-profit organization. I've been involved with technology since the early eighties when our family bought a Commodore 64. I'm a fan of Linux and "Free (as in freedom) software", but by no means a Linux zealot.

I like Free software because it lowers the barrier to entry for a lot of fields. For example: Using Inkscape and GIMP I created several logos for The Working Centre's Computer Recycling Project. PhotoShop and Illustrator would have been too expensive for the project to buy for this single purpose.

Outside of work I am the author of Instant XBMC, a short book published by Packt Publishing covering the installation of XBMCbuntu and setting up media libraries in XBMC. Instant XBMC was written for the 12.0 beta of XBMC, but most of the content after Chapter 1 is relevant today for Kodi 16.x. If you've bought my book and live in the Kitchener area feel free to drop down to Computer Recycling and I'd be happy to sign any copies (please note that the print version is only available through Amazon.com, not .ca or Chapters).

I'm also involved in the Ubuntu community outside of work writing articles for a great free online magazine called Full Circle Magazine. Full Circle Magazine recently celebrated their 8th anniversary (congratulations)! I've written the following articles for FCM:

Outside of work, writing, and tech events I try to find a life with my wonderful wife Maria. We've been married 8 years, traveled several countries together, try to share the cooking and cleaning, and somewhere amid everything find time for one another.
